Born in Illinois and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA, Ryan Gattis is the author of two novels: Roo Kickkick & the Big Bad Blimp and Kung Fu High School. In 2006, he teamed up with producers Neal Edelstein and Mike Macari (Mulholland Drive, The Ring) to bring Kung Fu High School to the screen; The Weinstein Company acquired the rights with a pre-emptive bid. Ryan holds a BFA in Creative Writing from Chapman University in Orange, California, and an MA in the same discipline from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, Norfolk, where he was supervised by Andrew Motion, Poet Laureate. He currently teaches Creative Writing at Chapman University and has studied film in England with Canadian critic Scott MacKenzie (Cinema and Nation ) as well as the history of Antipodean cinema at Australia's Bond University.
A graduate of Westmont
College in Santa Barbara, California, Brandon Gattis currently lives
in Los Angeles. In addition to being a freelance artist, he works
for a mutual fund investment company.
Roo Kickkick & the Big Bad Blimp (UK only) was their first collaborative
effort, and Kung Fu High School followed closely on its heels. Currently, they are
in the midst of the editing process on the forthcoming Holding Down Shadows, a supernatural thriller set in Japan.
